Commercial breakdown locations are often difficult to describe by address alone. Google Maps on Android can help you send a map location for a truck or trailer stopped on a highway, in a fleet yard, warehouse property, landfill, boat ramp, job site or other large location.

Share a map location or dropped pin

Open Google Maps. Search for the place or touch and hold the map to drop a pin at the vehicle location. Tap the place name or address at the bottom, then tap Share and choose how you want to send it.

Share a real-time location link when appropriate

Google Maps also supports Location sharing. From your profile picture or initial, choose Location sharing and start a new share. Google provides options for choosing how long to share. A location-sharing link can also be copied and pasted into a text or other messaging app.

Use the shortest sharing period you need

For roadside dispatch, you generally only need to share location long enough to communicate where the disabled vehicle is. You control who receives the link and can stop sharing. Do not change phone settings or operate Maps while driving.

Still tell us highway direction and mile marker

For I-95 or Florida’s Turnpike (State Road 91), tell us northbound or southbound, nearest exit/interchange or service plaza and mile marker when safely visible. A GPS pin alone may not tell dispatch which carriageway, ramp or access point reaches the vehicle.

Send the mechanical information too

Include vehicle/trailer type, exact problem, tire size and position for tire calls, unit number for fleets, warning lights or fault codes, and photos of the damage when safe. Location tells us where you are; symptom and equipment information helps us determine what to bring.
