Commercial Tire Roadside in Jupiter: Steer, Drive and Trailer Position Checklist

A commercial tire call near Jupiter or Indiantown Road should begin with the tire position and application, not just the wheel diameter. Steer, drive and trailer positions have different operating demands, and the replacement decision must account for the axle, load and the tire being replaced.

Steer position

The steer axle directly affects directional control. Size, load capability and application need to be correct for the vehicle. A tire that physically mounts on the wheel is not automatically the right steer tire.

Drive position

Drive tires transfer torque to the road. On dual assemblies, the paired tire and overall condition of the wheel end matter when selecting a roadside replacement.

Trailer position

Trailer tires carry load and tolerate heat and lateral scrub. A failed trailer tire can also damage wiring, air lines, mudflaps, brakes or the wheel-end area, so the surrounding components should be checked.

Commercial tire availability rules

New commercial tires are handled in 15-inch, 16-inch, 17.5-inch, 19.5-inch, 22.5-inch and 24.5-inch applications. Used and recap may be available only for commercial 22.5-inch and 24.5-inch applications depending on exact size, position and inventory. Verified full-size examples include 295/75R22.5 and 11R22.5.

Use the commercial tire-size hub for the complete authoritative inventory language.
