15- & 16-Inch Commercial Trailer Tires: New-Only Roadside Guide

Commercial and towable trailers can use 15-inch and 16-inch tire applications, but wheel diameter alone does not identify the correct tire. The full sidewall size, load requirement and trailer application must be confirmed.

New-tire-only rule

Commercial 15-inch and 16-inch tire applications are new-tire only. Do not advertise used or recap tires in these categories. Exact sidewall sizes should be confirmed before they are described as stocked.

Trailer information matters

Provide the trailer type, axle position and full sidewall marking. Roadside trailer work may involve commercial trailers, utility trailers, landscape trailers, enclosed trailers, car haulers and other towable equipment depending on the repair.

Check surrounding wheel-end damage

If the tire failure affected the rim, hub, wheel seal, bearings, brakes or suspension, report that information when requesting roadside service so the call is described accurately.
